Global Warming Natural Causes
Posted by Steve Evans under Global Warming
Global Warming natural causes are causes created by nature.
One natural cause is a release of methane gas from arctic tundra and peat below frozen wetland wetlands which is accelerated as the temperature of the earth rises. Methane is a greenhouse gas and a very strong one when compared with carbon dioxide. In fact each molecule of methane is about 20 times more heat retaining than a molecaule of carbon dioxide.
A greenhouse gas is a gas that traps heat in the earth's atmosphere, and the more that is trapped the more the temperaturs of the earth will rise. The worry is that this natural cause may be unstoppable and much worse in its effect once the warmth of the near polar regionds rises beyond a certain level.
Another natural cause is that the earth is forever going through a cycle of climate change. It is certain that there will be periods of global warming no matter what mankind does, and this is through global warming natural causes. This climate change cycle usually lasts about 40,000 years.
A further one of the known global warming natural causes are changes in the sun. The sun is so powerful compared to anything man can do that what the sun does will decide what happens on earth, no matter what we decide to do.
For me this comes top of my list of global warming natural causes. The sun influences the temperature on earth through its activity level and thus sunspots are likely to be a big influence, and part of this is the solar wind which may actually keep us cooler than usual during intense sun spot activity due to a combination of effects.
Also the earth' orbit around the sun is such that our average distance from the sun varies according to the variations in our orbit. As we get closer the earth's temperature will ted to rise and the converse is true as we move away.
To claim that a current warming trend that exists during a sunspot minimum (as it is now in 2010) justifies the taking of action to correct a trend that likely covers several millenia seems to be rather short sighted. This is also a global warming natural cause pure and simple.
So do we have climate change? Yes, certainly, but is it man made? Now that's uncertain!
